The grille was exactly as described and fit perfectly. Install was easy.
Overall I am very happy with the grille. It give a whole new look to the truck. I agree with some of the other comments that the screws were too short. So after a trip to the hardware store everything came out fine.
Installing the grill was easy to do because there are plenty of YouTube videos. I was concerned about the TSS garnish, but I haven’t had any issues. Most people spoke about trimming the garnish on the angles to get it to fit, but I didn’t. What I did have to trim were the excess pieces of plastic located on the sides of the two bottom tabs on the back side. After trimming and applying lots of pressure I was able to get the garnish to fit flush. Looks Great, functions great, and I get lots of compliments.
What should have taken 30-45 mins ended up taking several hours to install this grill. We had problems with inserting the grill garnish and the name plate screws were too short. So I had to go buy some that would fit. We ended up using a dremel to shave some plastic off of the garnish insert tabs. This really shouldn’t be needed. I watched some install videos on YouTube and none of those people needed to mess with their grills like I had to and others that have posted reviews on here. This isn’t necessarily Mad Hornets fault. They sent me the proper emails to tell me when the packages would arrive. Yes, you get two separate packages. I got the grill first and then I got the garnish insert and letters separately about a week later. If I had to do it over again I would find an aftermarket grill (that would have cost a little more) from a YouTube video install that seems to be easier to install. It’s not worth my time to mess with this stuff. In the end the grill looks awesome on the truck. We’ll see how it holds up during the winter.
The grill looks great and fit the truck perfectly. However, mine needed the garnish over the sensor and that thing was a bitch to install. I worked for over an hour to trim it down to fit the grill. After installed, my sensor was disabled and said to clean cover. I noticed I had it pushed in a little more at the top so I repositioned it flush with the grill all the way around and the error was gone and system works normally. Overall I am satisfied because of the price and it looks great. Just be prepared to do a little excessive work to fit the sensor cover if you have a 2018+ with TSS.
Awesome product, fit perfectly and super easy to install. Also arrived very quickly! Would purchase again
The grille fit great and looks great, my only complaint is that the Sensor Cover didnt want to fit very nicely, but made it work fairly simply. Id buy another grille if i needed one.
Grill was perfect fit and looks great, only complaint was that i was never informed that the TOYOTA letters would come separate than the grill so i thought the letters were missing and i spent hours trying to contact the company, I finally received the letters four days later than the grill. That should be said when purchasing the item., but once received it was a perfect easy fit and install
I installed this “Pro” grill on my 2019 Tacoma Sport about a week ago. The most time consuming part was fitting the OEM garnish. The grill was a little too small for the garnish piece to fit. I decided to grind about 25 thousands off each zig-zag end of the garnish with a Dremel. I also had to grind clearance in the grill to accept the lower tab inserts. After that messing around, the rest of the install took only 20 minutes. Everything else fit perfectly. Then today I checked the security of the letters on the insert. The Y was a little loose. I pulled gently on it and it came right off. I used 5 minute epoxy and glued it back on. I am doubtful the other letters will survive the car wash I go through. Also, like others have noted, the holes for the screws that mount the logo insert are too big or the screws provided are too small. Other than that, the grill looks good and I haven’t had any issues with the radar sensor at all.
